Group LTD is an excellent foundation for protecting income. It offers protection to those who might not otherwise have any. Most group coverage plans are set up to replace 60% of an employee's base salary if they become disabled (sick or injured). The challenge of a one-size-fits-all strategy is that the most highly compensated in your executive team (staff) tend to have the least protection. Group coverage also typically doesn't cover bonuses and incentive compensation.
